Instagram is apparently a luxury that only iOS and Android users are able to afford for now. Every now and then, rumors arise about how they planning or releasing the app for other platforms or that it is underway. But that is all that they usually are, Rumors.
Another piece of news related to Instagram now doing the rounds is that Instagram app for Windows Phone may be on the way.
A Nokia Lumia user named Marcus Petterson recently posted on Nokia Sweden’s Facebook page asking if Instagram app will ever be available for Windows Phone users to which Nokia had replied saying (Translation), “Instagram is on the way but can’t give an exact date right now”.
Could that be just an impulsive reply without any actual reason or truth behind it or was it more like a slip of tongue. Add to this the fact that Nokia Sweden later deleted the comment. Once again, was that because the news would give Windows Phone users a false expectation or because the statement was not supposed to be released at the time? Nothing can be confirmed at this point of time
Instagram is a wildly popular photography app that is currently only available on iOS and Android phones. Instagram for Blackberry 10 should be available soon, as for Windows Phone app, rumors are all there are. Post Facebook buyout, Instagram adoption has definitely increased and probably any rumor or anything at all that Instagram does, becomes news. Facebook also made Instagram available for web where users can see the photos uploaded by their friends on web and like and share through web interface.
Instagram was originally started and launched by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in October 2010 for iOS devices, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Instagram had more than a million registered users in just 2 months after launch. It was also awarded the App of the Year 2011 by Apple. Facebook acquired Instagram in April last year for $1 billion.
