Mobile security firm Lookout has partnered with Samsung, specifically the Samsung KNOX devices. Samsung KNOX devices are especially designed keeping in mind the security of the mobile and its data. Lookout’s first product with Samsung is named Lookout for Business.
Lookout has an app for iOS and Android devices but with this partnership, the company means to expand its business.
Protection against mobile threats for devices in the workplace is critical, and we’re excited to announce we’re expanding to address the unique needs of businesses – John Hering, CEO of Lookout
Lookout’s CEO, John Hering stresses on the present BYOD movement and explains why mobile security is such an important matter in the business world saying, “Protection against mobile threats is essential in any workplace, especially a BYOD workplace. The way that employees work on and use their devices has changed dramatically over the past few years.,” further adding, “Lookout’s expansion into business comes at a critical time and the security stakes are now higher. Lookout for Business will keep devices, networks and infrastructure safe from mobile threats and protect corporate devices, plus the sensitive data they carry. ”.
It is indeed true that BYOD has brought in a whole level of perspective of how bringing in your own smartphone at work helps you stay up to date and even make work easier at times, but at the same time it is difficult to ignore dangers that it poses towards the company. Samsung KNOX phones are already designed for BYOD thanks to its enhanced security and Lookout for Business probably makes it one of the most secured smartphone. It shouldn’t be surprising if the device becomes standard in companies heavily adopting (or have adopted) BYOD movement.
Samsung also has the same reason for partnering with Lookout. Dr. Injong Rhee, Senior Vice President of KNOX Business Group at Samsung Electronics says, “We’re excited to partner with Lookout to bring an additional level of security to Samsung KNOX. Lookout is the leader in mobile threat protection, and through attachment scanning and safe browsing they are uniquely equipped to address business mobile security and the evolving challenges in the BYOD movement,”.
Lookout is a security firm located in San Francisco which mainly deals with security threats for mobile. The company claims to have more than 45 million users worldwide at the moment and that more than 50% of Fortune 1000 companies use their security software to protect their phone. The application is available to download for iOS, Android and Kindle devices for free.
